Cambridge International Systems, Inc. has a part time Business Writing Intern opportunity available based in Virginia Beach, VA.  

Cambridge International Systems has a part-time Business Development, Capture, and Proposal (BCP) internship opportunity. Benefits include: hands-on experience in business development and proposals within the defense contracting sector and communications writing practices; mentorship from industry professionals and exposure to real-world projects. 

Successful candidates will be motivated self-starters able to work with minimal direction as part of a technically diverse, geographically dispersed team. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILTIES 

  • Complete research on assigned topics, fact-check data collected during the research process, and create readable, easy-to-understand content tailored to a defined audience. 

  • Use style guides to develop and proofread content for assignments. 

  • Combine existing content and boilerplate with current Subject Matter Expert (SME) input to develop new material. 

  • Apply desk top publishing (DTP) skills to ensure documents meet company branding and industry quality standards. Proofread and format documents; define acronyms. 

  • Support Proposal Operations library initiative; coordinate the collection and accumulation of proposal documentation and data. Research and analyze historical data, as directed. 

  • Create reports, flag inconsistent information and follow up with stakeholders for updates. 

  • Assist Proposal Managers with the logistics of the proposal process; support kickoff, color reviews, and other meetings as directed. 

  • Maintain the Proposal Operations schedule, calendar updates, meeting invitations, minutes, and reporting requirements as directed. 

Required QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Must be proficient in using different technologies such as computers and other tools and systems pertinent to the position. 

  • Attention to detail. 

  • Strong business writing proficiency . 

  • Interest in defense contracting, national security, or aerospace industries. 

  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. 

  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for security clearance (if required). 

  • Ability to create basic flowchart and organizational chart graphics a plus. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. 

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in English, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a relevant field. 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 

  • In rare/some occasions, overnight travel may be required.  

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Cambridge International Systems complies with Temporary Duty Station (TDY)/Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) vaccination requirements.  If this position requires OCONUS travel (listed above), Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil lists applicable current vaccination requirements by location. 

Office setting: 

  • Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. 

  • Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc. 

  • May be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.
