Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Director of Manufacturing will lead teammates at the facility to optimize performance in production, maintenance, quality, safety, environmental and other operation-related activities in Dalton, GA.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs and manages all manufacturing operations with overall responsibilities for scheduling and managing a 24-hour production facility.
  • Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and waste/scrap.
  • Direct the establishment and implement and/or maintain safety, quality and production standards.
  • Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers/supervisors to insure the total operational objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Typically monitors and reports KPI’s related to production and costs.
  • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.
  • Manage capital asset maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of PLCs and industrial automation systems.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime and repair expenses.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
  • Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs.
  • Provide direction, development and leadership to supervisors/managers.
  • Work closely with Human Resources on the management of the plant employee staff and any issues that arise.
  • Establishes shift schedules, ensures labor availability, and maintains staffing consistent with cost targets.
  • Provides direction, development and leadership to all direct reports including maintenance and shift supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or equivalent work experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • 10+ years of operations / production management experience.
  • Proficient understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and ability to communicate findings to appropriate employees.
  • Hands on experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Strong Supervisory and Leadership Skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial and operational performance.
  • Energetic with ability to inspire all levels of an organization.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining a safe/disciplined manufacturing operations with a focus on delivery quality goods.
  • Hands on experience in a small operation with an ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions including procurement, sales, finance, quality, safety, and human resources.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with payroll software for approval of employee timecards.

Work Environment:

  • Work is typically performed in a manufacturing facility that is not temperature controlled. Works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity, and wears personal protective equipment, as required.   • Various operations in the plant generate noise, dust, vapor, and fumes in the normal course of production.
