General Function:

The eCommerce Fulfillment Maintenance Technician’s responsibilities include maintaining production machinery in a timely and efficient manner also assisting in maintaining the building and grounds.

Reporting Relations:

Accountable and Reports to: Director, eCommerce Fulfillment. Has daily contact with operations managers and production employees.

Direct Reports : None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Machine setup, establish ongoing, and monitor preventive maintenance programs at the Hy-Vee eCommerce Fulfillment Center.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain machinery and equipment.
  • Perform a variety of building maintenance including carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Analyzes significant equipment failures to determine root cause of failures.
  • Identify areas to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Assists with other maintenance department personnel as needed.
  • Ensure compliance to plant policies and Federal and State regulations including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SQF standards.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Weekends when needed.


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma and two years of experience preferred.
  • Trade school training or equivalent experience required.
  • Courses in electrical maintenance or apprenticeships required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must perform very heavy work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: physical work including walking, stooping, bending, lifting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, fingering, grasping, climbing, reaching, balancing, pushing, and pulling.

Working Conditions:

  • The duties of this position are performed mostly in the Order Storage & Retrieval System.
  • Work around loud equipment.
  • Frequent deadlines exist while handling multiple tasks.
  • Daily contact with employees, technicians and salespersons.
  • Ability to climb, bend, lift and work in areas of limited mobility.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:

  • Must provide own standard and metric hand tools used for electrical maintenance and repair.
  • Involves frequent use of diagnostic equipment and phone.
  • Computer knowledge is helpful to work with RTA software for work orders, parts, and labor.
