Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Physician Coder - Cardiology to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately reviewing and coding professional services, including evaluation and management (E/M), diagnostics, surgeries, and procedures. Your expertise in cardiology coding will ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer guidelines, contributing to accurate reimbursements. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and effective communication skills.
We are currently looking for candidates with recent experience in Cardiology and subspecialties, including:
Cardiovascular (CV)
Cardiothoracic (CT)
Electrophysiology (EP)

Key Responsibilities:
Accurately review and code professional cardiology cases to ensure optimal reimbursement.
Code E/M visits and office procedures efficiently and correctly.
Conduct research on coding scenarios and apply findings to daily tasks.
Meet or exceed daily production goals and maintain a 95%+ accuracy rate.
Attend meetings and conference calls to provide insights and feedback.
Identify coding or documentation issues and communicate with leadership.
Stay up to date on all coding guidelines, including specialty-specific changes.
Participate in department meetings and ongoing education sessions.
Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive patient and company information.
Be adaptable to expanding into additional cardiology subspecialties or other related specialties.
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Certification: Completion of an AHIMA or AAPC-certified program with an active credential (CCS, CPC, etc.). CPC or CCS-P is required. (CPC-A is not accepted.)
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on physician coding experience specializing in cardiology, including:
Arteriovenous Fistulogram & Interventions
AV Fistula creation
Carotid Endarterectomy
Embolization of malformations
Central Venous Catheter Placement (for ESRD) and exchanges
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm open repair
Amputations
Vascular open and percutaneous interventions & angiography
Vascular Bypass procedures
Bonus Experience:
CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation)
TMVR (Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair)
TTVI / TTVr (Transcatheter Tricuspid Valve Implantation/Repair)
Pediatric Cardiology & Congenital Heart Conditions
Fetal Cardiology/NICU
Heart Transplant Specialists
TAVR, EVAR, TCAR, TAMBE, TADV, and other advanced cardiac procedures
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, disease processes, CPT coding (AMA guidelines), ICD-10-CM coding, modifiers, and surgical techniques.
Familiarity with Medicare (CMS/MAC) and Medicaid billing policies for professional services.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and electronic health record (EHR) billing systems.
Experience with Google Suite is a plus.
Experience working remotely is preferred but not required.
Additional Preferred Skills:
Auditing experience (CPMA certification is a plus).
Billing and denials experience.
Experience using Epic.
