The Graduate Learning Center (GLC)-home to the Graduate Writing Center (GWC) and the Thesis Processing Office (TPO)-provides essential academic support services to help students meet rigorous graduate standards. These services include individualized instruction, writing workshops, thesis processing, and faculty development. The GLC is critical to maintaining NPS's high on-time graduation rate (~93%) and fostering academic integrity and excellence across disciplines, including engineering, national security affairs, systems engineering, and cyber operations.

Summary :
As a Writing Instructor in the Graduate Writing Center (GWC) at the Naval Postgraduate School, you will support graduate students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds-most of whom have returned to education after military service. You will help develop their writing, critical thinking, and academic skills through individualized instruction, workshops, and resource development.

Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct up to 6,500 one-on-one student sessions per year
• Deliver 30 60 minute workshops on grammar, writing mechanics, research, and academic integrity
• Assist students in developing writing strategies for theses, technical reports, and coursework
• Provide feedback on outlines, literature reviews, and drafts
• Support plagiarism analysis and academic integrity coaching
• Collaborate with faculty and librarians to integrate writing instruction
• Maintain records of student engagement and progress
• Develop learning tools (infographics, guides, presentations)
• Must be eligible for a Top Secret/SCI clearance

Qualifications :

• BA/BS in English, journalism, communication, or related field with GPA 3.5 (graduate degree preferred)
• 4+ years experience supporting student writing
• 2+ years teaching writing/critical thinking at the undergraduate level
• Proficiency with MS Office, Zoom, learning platforms (e.g., Sakai), citation managers (e.g., Zotero), and plagiarism tools
