We're looking for passionate educators who want to inspire and mentor students in a dynamic, student-centered environment. As an educator, you'll take on the role of both guide and advisor, helping students create personalized learning paths while engaging in real-world, place-based projects. You'll have the opportunity to shape the future of learning, making it a truly meaningful experience for each student.
In this role, you'll provide students with a blend of structured academic guidance and open-ended project work, encouraging them to explore their own interests while meeting rigorous learning targets. You'll also support students in personal development through an innovative social intelligence program, helping them grow both academically and as individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
Advisory:
Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for a small group of students.
Guide students in setting and tracking their learning goals.
Provide ongoing mentorship and help students manage their personal learning plans.
Ensure students meet key milestones such as:
Mastery of learning targets
Completion of service learning projects
Portfolio presentation of learning
Capstone project
Participation in wellness programs
Learning Facilitator Role:
Create an engaging, safe, and student-centered learning environment.
Incorporate global perspectives and culturally relevant content into lessons.
Work closely with other educators to design and implement interdisciplinary activities.
Encourage student involvement in the learning process through peer feedback and collaborative planning.
Guide students through activities that encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, reflection, and innovation.
Ensure all learning aligns with the program's learning targets.
Safety:
Prioritize the safety and well-being of students during all activities.
Adhere to safety protocols and local emergency plans for each location.
Actively communicate any safety concerns to the relevant teams.
Networking & Collaboration:
Collaborate with other departments and community partners to enhance the learning experience.
Seek out local resources and new ideas to enrich the curriculum.
Share innovative approaches and best practices with fellow educators.
Assessment:
Clearly define learning outcomes and use the program's assessment tools to monitor student progress.
Regularly communicate assessment results with students and their families.
Encourage students to reflect on their growth and achievements through self-assessment.
Technology:
Stay updated on the latest educational technologies and integrate them into your teaching.
Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance your technology skills.
Share technology best practices with peers and work to continuously improve online and distance learning experiences.
Student Life:
Help create memorable learning experiences outside of the classroom, taking advantage of the unique opportunities provided by the location.
Support student well-being and contribute to the Inside Out program, focusing on personal growth and social intelligence.
Participate in regular on-site duty supervision, including overnight shifts.
Program Development:
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the program by participating in planning and decision-making processes.
Collaborate with team members to support students and families.
Play an active role in shaping the school's mission and vision.
Excursions:
Plan, lead, and supervise immersive 5-10 day excursions, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
Administration:
Maintain academic records using the approved software.
Provide regular updates on student progress and communicate with parents as needed.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with various departments to ensure smooth program delivery.
Assist with logistical needs such as transportation, accommodation, and medical support.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for classroom and event purposes.
Flexibility to work outdoors in various weather conditions and varying terrain.
Willingness to participate in extended expeditions and outdoor activities in diverse environments, including high altitudes and water-based settings.
Required Skills:
Strong experience in delivering student-centered workshops, with a focus on project-based learning (PBL), assessment, and integrating technology.
Exceptional leadership and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Flexibility and openness to adapting to new teaching methods and technologies.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Competency with Google apps, particularly Calendaring, Spreadsheets, and Forms.
A strong commitment to personal and professional growth, with a willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
Passion for working in a communal setting and supporting the development of students in both academic and personal growth.
